Terroir - 10.1 hectares, located on the north-eastern mid-hillside of the Pomerol plateau
composed of a mosaic of plots made up of clayey gravel close to Chateau Clinet with iron deposits in the subsoil. These terroirs are typical for the Pomerol appellation.
Vineyard Work - Manual leaf thinning as well as green harvesting when necessary and when the grape bunches are detangled. All are part of a constant concern for perfection. After a carefully hand-picked harvest in 12kg cartons, there follows a double sorting.
Vinification - The cellar at Château Montviel allows for a traditional vinification in small temperature controlled stainless steel vats, but also micro-vinifications directly in barrels
(new oak) for the best plots located close to Château Clinet. The alcoholic fermentation is undertaken in vats during the first month of vinification.; Depending on the vintage, 50 to 100% new oak barrels will house the wine for 15 months for the malo-lactic
fermentation and barrel ageing.
Dry, full-bodied and velvety-smooth texture highlighted by subtle oak and mineral flavours
Full flavoured grilled or saucy chicken or fish dishes.
