It is barrel fermented in French oak (30% new) with native yeast and full malolactic fermentention. We try to harness a blend of lush California flavors tempered with cool-climate structure that hinges on firm acidity with moderate body. Stone fruit, citrus and spice come to mind on the palate. There's a modest hint of toasty oak framing the ensemble, which ends with a fresh, clean finish.
Beef or veal dishes, robust pasta dishes or full flavored cheeses.
From Robert Parker Wine Advocate: The 2014 Chardonnay Lavan is a rather classic Northern California Chardonnay with notes of white peach, honeysuckle and a touch of orange blossom followed by a medium-bodied, admirably concentrated, nicely textured wine with a touch of toasty oak in the background. This is impressive wine.
