Alexander winery, founded by winemaker Yoram Shalom in Tel-Aviv in 1996, was relocated to Beit Yitzhak, a Moshav in Hefer Valley. It began as a small family venture but grew into a successful boutique winery. Since 2006 the winery products are Kosher and in 2007 it became under the Kosher supervision of “Beit Joseph”.
Yoram began as a child watching his father, Alexander Shalom, making wine at home. His interest grew through contact with vintners and winemakers in Israel and abroad. Eventually he resigned from his job and switched full time to winemaking and a winery owner.
His dedication made him more public sought after. Yoram combines traditional and modern wine production concepts with up to date technologies. Quality grapes are a prerequisite for quality wine production. He found special vineyards to serve as sources for his winery. Three vineyards were chosen for their their elevation, soil type and depth, slope and slope aspect relative to the sun, wind directions and force, planting density and row direction. Winemakers must also work cooperatively with the vineyards managers to, in order to obtain the best quality grapes.
Additionally, the winery should enable the winemaker to “groom and husband”, and ensure a maximal retention of the grape attributes and qualities of the wine.
