About

Champagne Drappier, a family owned house in the Côte des Bar in the Aube region of Champagne, is run by Michel Drappier. He tends the land accumulated by the Drappiers since 1808. Michel Drappier, described as vying for the position of ‘this southerly district’s very best producer’*, creates wines for real connoisseurs.

The 50 plus hectares in and around Urville, in the Aube, were chosen by Drappier’s ancestors for their exposure and high limestone content, to produce wines. A further 40 hectares are grown under contract. On these lands, Pinot Noir is king (70%), while Chardonnay (15%) and Pinot Meunier (13%) ensure the balance of the ‘assemblages’. A few parcels planted with rare old varieties bring their own unique characteristics to the Drappier cuvées.

With many years of experience supporting him and skills inherited from his predecessors, Michel Drappier strives for wine-making that extends beyond the technical while also improving it through little detail. The construct the future while drawing on the riches of the past.”

Michel Drappier passionately seeks the natural and the authentic, rather than the superficially sophisticated and overly polished. He is quite simply committed to vinifying genuine wines; wines without artifice, beautifully crafted wines, created with a sense of history and heritage.

After hundreds of years and a time-tested recipe for our champagne, we were worried that the Mevushal process would affect the unique aromas of our products, “admitted Michael Drappier. “However, we quickly realized that Mevushal had no impact on the top-quality, artisan champagne we offer to our consumers.” The Drappier family is enthusiastically embracing the kosher market. Their kosher collection includes Carte d’Or and Carte Blanche Brut Champagne. Drappier kosher champagne is certified Pareve and Kosher for Passover by the OU.
